July 28, 2026
In solidarity with the nation, the City College of Calapan – Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNED) Department proudly commemorated the 48th National Disability Rights Week on July 25, 2026, at the 3rd Floor of Kalap Hall, reaffirming its commitment to promoting inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunities for all persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Anchored on the theme, "Rights First, Legislation Forward — Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development," the celebration highlighted the importance of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities while fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
The event featured a series of informative and engaging activities designed to raise awareness and strengthen advocacy for disability rights. These included a Legal Rights Awareness Forum, Expressions Unbound: A PWD Art and Talent Showcase, an Advocacy Video Presentation, a discussion on Special and Inclusive Practices in the United States and the Philippines, and a Filipino Sign Language (FSL) Song Interpretation.
Through these meaningful activities, students, faculty members, and participants gained valuable insights into the importance of inclusive education, accessibility, and community collaboration in empowering persons with disabilities.
The celebration reflects the BSNED Department's continuing mission to cultivate future educators and advocates who champion diversity, uphold human dignity, and contribute to building a society where everyone is valued, respected, and given equal opportunities to thrive.
Together, let us continue to promote awareness, inspire action, and advance a future where inclusion is not merely an aspiration but a lived reality for all.
