City College of Calapan (CCC) faculty shifted their focus toward community-based problem solving at the last two days of the institutional research colloquium held at the Calapan City Convention Center, March 25-27, 2026.

First plenary session speaker Dr. Emerson G. Cabudol encouraged researchers to move beyond descriptive studies, emphasizing the importance of argumentative research designed to address local challenges in Oriental Mindoro, such as public health and climate change.

Under his guidance, faculty members refined their abstracts and developed strategies to translate academic findings into actionable policy recommendations and outputs.

The second session, led by Mr. Romel Carandang, focused on technical methodology as he discussed the application of advanced statistical tools and data-driven methods to ensure local research meets international academic standards.

On the final day, interdisciplinary teams participated in a collaborative morning workshop to develop "research capsules" aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These sessions allowed faculty to work across disciplines to address complex social issues.

Following the workshops, teams presented a 3-minute plenary pitch of their proposals which were evaluated for their viability and academic rigor
The colloquium concluded with an awarding ceremony recognizing the most promising research capsules.

The three-day event signaled CCC’s ongoing commitment to elevating its research capabilities and providing practical solutions for Calapan City.
