CCC STUDENTS DOMINATE REGIONAL STATISTICS QUIZ, EARN NATIONALS BERTH

City College of Calapan (CCC) reaffirmed its academic strength after its students swept the top spots in the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Regional Championship held on November 6, 2025, clinching the right to represent the MIMAROPA Region in the national finals.

First-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics student Sophia Noreene Zamora emerged as Regional Champion, while Junmark Ovilla secured Second Place, besting nine competitors from Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan. The victory marks CCC’s back-to-back regional championship in the prestigious competition.

With their strong performance, the CCC representatives will advance to the 29th PSQ National Finals scheduled on December 10, 2025, in Manila. College officials credited the achievement to rigorous preparation and effective mentorship under coaches Mary Joy M. Evora and Claudine J. Locquiao, with support from the CCC coaching staff.

Organized annually by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the PSQ aims to promote statistical literacy and critical thinking among college students nationwide. CCC’s latest achievement further strengthens its growing reputation for excellence in statistical concepts, applications, and reasoning.
