IHTM Community Extension Services Brings Hygiene Education and Essentials to SLRLC Learners
July 28, 2026
Demonstrating its commitment to community engagement and service, the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM) successfully conducted its Community Extension Services (CES) activity at San Lorenzo Ruiz Learning Center (SLRLC) under the leadership of Dr. Marinel B. Supnet, Dean of the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and the supervision of the newly appointed IHTM CES Coordinator, Mr. Mark Anthony A. Dimailig, LPT on July 10, 2026.
The community extension service aimed to promote proper personal hygiene among the learners of SLRLC by providing both essential knowledge and practical hygiene resources.
The program commenced with an informative discussion and demonstration on proper hygiene practices facilitated by Nurse Avegay M. Hernandez, School Nurse. Through engaging discussions and hands-on demonstrations, the learners gained valuable knowledge on maintaining cleanliness, practicing good hygiene habits, and promoting overall health and well-being.
To further support the learners, Hygiene Essentials were distributed through the generous sponsorship of the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) Department Officers and the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) Department Officers. These hygiene kits serve as practical tools to encourage the learners to apply the hygiene practices they had learned during the activity.
The outreach concluded with a meal-sharing activity, where food was provided to the learners through the generosity of Daisuki ni Aji, Sabfashion, Eighteen Travel and Tours, and Juana's Diner. The shared meals brought smiles to the learners and reflected the spirit of compassion and unity among the institute's partners and stakeholders.
The successful implementation of this Community Extension Services activity highlights IHTM's dedication to fostering social responsibility, promoting health education, and creating meaningful partnerships that positively impact the community. Through initiatives such as this, the institute continues to uphold its mission of extending quality service beyond the classroom and making a lasting difference in the lives of the people it serves.
