The City College of Calapan, through its Student Promoting Arts, Reading, and Knowledge (SPARK), conducted the Booknayan Literacy Service on March 28 in Barangay Bulusan as part of the institution’s Community Extension Service (CES) program.

The literacy outreach forms part of the college’s 18 Kindness Community Extension Service, which aims to promote reading, learning, and community engagement among young learners.

Opening messages were delivered by Robin Almarez, ILCS CES Coordinator, Ederlyn Y. Delos Reyes, RL, MLIS, SPARK adviser, and Barangay Captain Carmelita Manebo of Barangay Bulusan.

An awarding ceremony for students was held afterward, recognizing the participation and efforts of the young learners in the literacy activities.

Special messages were also delivered by Hon. Carlos Miguel Magaling, SK Chairperson, and Dr. Ronald F. Cantos, College Administrator of City College of Calapan, who both emphasized the importance of literacy and community involvement in shaping the youth.

The activity concluded with the giving of small tokens and the distribution of learning materials to the students, followed by closing remarks from Noel A. Comia, MAED, CES Coordinator.

The outreach initiative reflects the commitment of the City College of Calapan to extend educational support and promote literacy within local communities.
